If you want to learn well how to generate and then use maps in GeospatialPDF format, contact us. We will give you a dedicated course.
When printing your map with QGIS, you can choose to simply print it or export it to various formats among others: SVG, PNG, Geotiff or PDF. For the latter format, the GeospatialPDF option can be activated. Eye, GeoPDF format is proprietary to TerraGO.
Compatible mobile applications:
- Avenza Maps (Android / Apple)
- SuperSurv 10.2 (Android)
- Mappt (Android / Apple)
- TerraGo Mobile
- Geoview Lite (Apple)
Other compatible apps:
You can know more about this format:
2D and 3D geospatial data can be added, relating page content to geographic regions using one of several common geospatial models of the earth. For more details, seePDF, Geospatial coding . Geospatial features were introduced in PDF 1.7, ExtensionLevel 3 and Acrobat 9 by Adobe in June 2008.

Geospatial features

• Establishes new PDF data structures compatible with geospatial coordinate systems
• Supports latitude, longitude and altitude in the real world with units such as: metro, kilometer, pie, milla, nautical mile, hectare, acre, etc.
• You can define transformations between 3D curves in geographic coordinate systems and a 2D coordinate system. (PDF page) to correct distortions.
• Allows PDF use cases for maps and satellite images
Summary
source: Wikipedia Geospatial PDF (IN)
The popularity of geographic information systems (SIG) the need to share geospatial information among its users has increased. But nevertheless, an obstacle to sharing this type of geospatial data can be the large size of the files or that the end user does not have the appropriate software to open it. Being the PDF format widely accepted and considered the "de facto" standard for printable documents on the web., which means that users do not need any proprietary plugin to read geospatial PDF files (respecting the PDF version 1.7 ISO standard 32000-1). In this sense, some features commonly associated with geospatial PDF are simply PDF features:
• Graph vector and raster information (content and image model, PDF 1.0)
• Separate graphics content into different layers (optional content, PDF 1.5)
• Associate tabular information with graphical characteristics (user properties, PDF 1.6)
Applications
There are several uses for a geospatial PDF. After importing geospatial data into PDF file, data can be used in various ways:
• Find and mark location coordinates
• Measure a distance, a perimeter and an area
• Change the coordinate system and units of measure
• Copy the location coordinates to the clipboard
• Register a raster image to create a geospatial PDF.
